“Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Foundation wanted to celebrate the theme of “Dignity of labour” that was central in the very popular song of Xudhakontho “Autoricksaw cholaon Ami duyu bhai”. We had certain activities in mind. The key was providing a platform. to Autoricksaw drivers to discuss new challenges and possibilities. We took the opportunity of doing it together with paying homage to Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwala on his 114th birth anniversary, ie, 17th June.
In this endeavor apart from the members of the Foundation, various associate groups and individuals got passionately involved. While the different associations of Autoricksaw owners and drivers came and participated. The government of Assam too got associated after we shared our proposal.
Honourable Governor Sjt Banwari Lal Purohit came to program and gave a very illuminating and motivating speech. There was full support from the District administration, Kamrup and the Directorate of cultural affairs.
The star attractions of the program were Smt. Jnanashree Pathak, daughter of Rupkonwar who spoke about her father’s ideals and the close links between him, Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha and Xudhakontho Bhupen Hazarika. Before that Smt Sudakshina Sharma enthralled the audience with her very melodious Luitore Pani Jabo o boi…
Samar Hazarika and Rishiraj Sharma revived the spirit of seventies when the sang the popular duet Autoricksaw cholaun Ami duyu bhai..
